Poster Design, Brand Identity
Created fresh, new series of concept posters for Baltimore Community Theater celebrating women's rights. The series showcases three female playwrights: Quiara Alegria Hude's Miss You Like Hell, Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, and Lorraine Hansbury's A Raisin in the Sun.
Inspired by a personal collection of vintage portraiture paintings of women, each poster is designed using a different painting. The images are intentionally cropped, reflecting the play's theme. Geometric shapes also act as signifiers as they drape over the image. Like the symbolic shapes, the sans serif typographic treatment directs the viewers eye to move down the page where information is revealed about each play.
Drawing from the subtle way the shapes communicate the stories of each play, the symbols are applied to theater's tickets and marketing materials.
